FICTION: Whatcom County Council rejected the Birch Point annexation.
FACT: The County Council Attorney said: “Law does not support what the Council was doing at the last meeting.” The County Council is now taking steps to correct their mistake.
FICTION: Unfortunately, The Northern Light reported Whatcom County Council disapproves of west Blaine urban growth area expansion. BUT, The Northern Light did not follow up on the Council’s October 28 meeting that heeds the County Attorney’s advice for the Council to take corrective action.
FACT: Voters are still in charge!
You decide if Proposition 2025-07 to de-annex Grandis Pond should pass. We cannot rely on County Council errors to inform you or to determine your vote.
FICTION: City to simply declare Grandis Pond is a Critical Aquifer Recharge Area.
FACT: City has not done that and is not going to do that. Why wait? You can do this now by voting YES on Prop 2025-07.
FICTION: Claim that ballot title “Reduction of City Limits” was “ridiculous.”
FACT: The State Law title is Chapter 35A.16 RCW REDUCTION OF CITY LIMITS: https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=35A.16
FICTION: Proposition 2025-07 does not matter.
FACT: This is the only way you can make a critical land use decision. Per State Law, this is not left to the elected officials to decide. The decision is only obtained by your vote. And 60% approval is required. Vote YES on Proposition 2025-07.
